First Post - Please Respond

Hi All! I just want to make sure that you received your invitation to the blog and can respond. So, this is a test of sorts.

Your blog posts will be due by the start of the next class. Meaning, if I post a prompt today...you must respond to it by 11:45 on Wednesday. Sound like a plan? Cool.

Here is your very first prompt to respond to:

I started reading when I was four years old and have been reading ever since. My favorite childhood book is hard to choose - it's a close tie between Little Women and Little House on the Prairie. Each one of these books had an impact on my life and definitely inspired me to become a reader.

What was your favorite childhood book?

This post does not need to be very long, because it is mostly a test. However, respond to at least one of your classmates' posts. You may begin by simply posting a reply to this post.

sorry for the room mix up today. Someone may have moved my sign. I look forward to getting started with you on Wednesday.

Best,
Kelly

  2. Kyle, that is my daughter Maisy's favorite book. She adores Roald Dahl. He scares me a bit, but she says that Dahl is the only writer out there who writes "sweet and scary fantastical things." ;)

  7. Well honestly I didn't have much experience with books until the 3rd grade I had terrible ADHD and I had more then one teacher believe that I should have been held back due to my very low grades with the introduction of my medication however I began to have higher grades and for once could focus enough to read beginning with Katy And The Big Snow by Virginia Lee Burton as I small child I would practice with this very basic book. I advanced very quickly and in 3rd grade during the winter I chose to stay inside and read trying to get better guess what after advancing quickly I am now in college but I still have the book to this day.

    1. I think that's awesome. I should get this book for my son James. He isn't a big fan of reading - he has struggled with it for many years. Maybe this will be the book that perks his interest. :)

  9. When I was in the second grade I started collecting the Little House on the Prairie books with the help of my dad. It was fun collecting them and eventually finishing the entire series. The books became a thing for my dad and I because my other siblings were not into reading like we were.

    4. Dr. Suess books are definitely the ideal children's books simply because there are so many made up words that the way the child pronounces the words really has no relevance other than the fact that it gets the child reading.
