Who do you think influences Macbeth to murder (and he does A LOT of it in this play).
I like to believe that it's all his own decision - yet, it is hard to argue with the fact that his wife plays a major part in his decision making.
Who do you think is to blame? The witches, Macbeth, or Lady Macbeth? or none...was it simply fate?
I have never read Macbeth so from what I watched on Friday I would have to say it is a little of all three because he has a greedy side that comes to life when the witches tell him he will become king and then it sounds like his wife feeds his greed with her own. This is what I think so far just from what I saw and the fact that all people have a secret killer inside them if the right combination of things come along they would murder to get ahead. This is just my opinion on people and this story this far.
ReplyDeleteI blaim Lady Macbeth because ahe instigated the entire tragedy so its only fair to blame herfor it.
DeleteWell its obvious that it is Lady Macbeths fault had she not started pushing Macbeths buttons then he wouldn't have done anything that night he would have went to bed and slept that night. So guess what then tghe king would have lived and Macbeth would have lived a longer life probably with more titles and benefits given to him by the king!
ReplyDeleteLady Macbeth does play a role in influencing him there is no denying that, but I think that everyone including Macbeth makes their own decisions.
DeleteYou make an excellent point Garrett. The king really likes Macbeth and probably would do anything for him. The fact that he could murder someone who he really gets along with and just got promoted by pretty much shows that he is capable of killing anyone if it means bettering himself.
DeleteI agree it is Lady Macbeth. I don't disagree that Macbeth just killed for his sake though.
ReplyDeleteI think the witches and Lady Macbeth are just taking what is already in his own mind and capitolizing on it.
ReplyDeleteI agree, someone is not going to go through with an act that they have not already thought about.
DeleteI totally agree with both of your statements. People do not act unless they have thought about it some first.
DeleteI place the majority of the blame on his wife for instigating the killing, but Macbeth then develops a taste for it. The killing gets easier for him simply because the first murder shows him how much he can benefit himself from murdering and the fact that he gets away with it once, it makes him feel like he can get away with it many more times.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100% on this.
DeleteI believe that it is Macbeth's fault. He most likely has thought about ruling before because it does not take much to talk him into killing people. It is the witches and Lady Macbeth's support that Macbeth appreciates and feeds off of. But, Macbeth would not have killed if he didn't already believe he could be king and get away with murder.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Even though Lady Macbeth pushed it is still his fault.
DeleteI think it has a little to do with both him doing it himself and his wife influencing him as well because her influence had a toll on him, which could have made him realize he wanted to do it, so he did it.
ReplyDeleteI believe you are your own person and YOU are in control of your feelings, mind, and actions. Macbeth is to blame for allowing these people to get inside his head and for allowing them to make him feel like murder was the only way of advancing in positions of power.
ReplyDeletetotally agree man. nobody threatened him to do it.
DeleteI think you can only really blame Macbeth. If I kill someone because my s/o told me to that doesn't change the fact I still killed them. Maybe he shouldn't worry so much about what other people think of him and he wouldn't of had to kill anyone lol
ReplyDeleteAll in the end it is Macbeth's fault for his own killing. I do think that the second person at fault is his wife Lady Macbeth. The witches in my view only gave him the idea but never put anything forth after that.
